The Woodlands Rotary Club will present its 1st annual Oktoberfest on Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27

The Woodlands Rotary Club will present its 1st annual Oktoberfest on Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27, at Town Green Park, located along The Waterway and adjacent to The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.

All proceeds from Oktoberfest will go directly to The Woodlands Rotary Club Foundation, a 501c(3) organization, to raise funds for local students’ scholarships. The event is expected to attract festival-goers from around the area, many dressed in traditional Bavarian costumes.

"The success of the Tomball German Heritage Festival, held in late March, highlights the attractive nature and spirit of the German heritage in our area. Our Oktoberfest will exemplify the true spirit of the traditional fall harvest festivals in Germany. There will be something fun to do for all ages," says Bob Schucker, The Woodlands Rotary Club’s President and Oktoberfest chairperson. "

This family-oriented Oktoberfest will feature music from German bands as well as authentic German food. Oktoberfest Bavarian souvenirs will also be for sale in the festival's craft vendor fair.

Ticket prices are $10 per person, 10 years and older; $5 for children 2 years – 10 years old; and free for children under 2 years. For more information about advanced ticket purchases or the event, visit Rotary’s Oktoberfest site.

For sure in Texas

Did you realize that your Texas driver's license has a phone number on the back, just above the bar code on the lower left side: 1-800-525-5555. (It's in Very Small Print, but it Is there.) Many of us have Triple A, or have opted to have roadside assistance available from our auto insurance or included when we purchased our cars, but if you don’t have it, this number can be called for emergency assistance on the highway or wherever you might have trouble while in your car. I’m told a service truck will be sent to you as well as a state trooper to make sure all is well and that it is a service that is state operated and paid for with your tax dollars. If you are ever stranded, just call the number on your driver's license...and help is on the way.
